Pokémon Journeys: The Series reveals Cynthia returns after 9 years

Pokémon Journeys: The Series is marking Sinnoh Pokémon League champion, Cynthia, returning after a nine years.

Fans of Cynthia can rest easy as staff behind Pokémon Journeys: The Series have revealed that Tomo Sakurai is reprising her role as Sinnoh’s Pokémon League champ later this month. This marks the character’s first appearance since Pokémon: Black and White just shy of a decade ago.

Cynthia portrayed herself as the champion of the Sinnoh Pokémon League and a caring trainer. She is far from the first character to see a return in Journeys as a handful of fan-favorites have been appearing here and there as Ash and his research fellow companion, Goh, travel across the world to meet all sorts of new critters and characters along the way.

Back in August, Sinnoh’s electric gym leader, Volkner, dropped by, marking his own first appearance for a whopping 11 years back in Diamond and Pearl.

Pokémon Journeys: The Series debuted on TV Tokyo and affiliates across Japan before making its way to the west thanks to Netflix, who has been releasing batches of dubbed episodes every quarter with its last March 5 drop marking its final episodes.

Netflix did release the first batch of episodes of Pokémon Master Journeys: The Series, a second season to the previous series and Season 24 of Pokémon as a whole, last month, though.

This next episode will air on October 8.
